The Details
When you register below, you are mailed a 5.5 x 8.5in journal with a prepaid return label.
As we build the collection, some of you will receive journals with stories written in them — to be used as inspiration and a means of connection to the writer before you — and some of you will receive an empty journal, in which you’ll be the first writer.
Once you receive your journal in the mail, you’ll have one month to write your story and send it back to us. Your story will be digitized and added to our growing archives, and your journal will be mailed to the next writer.
This part of the project is intentionally analog so that you can experience the symbolic process of sending your story away, where it can’t be edited, labored over, or revisited. The intent is for you to leave it behind you — a promise to yourself to move forward.
